Getting started....Have you got an old box full of photos of past people and places? Or maybe you're part of the 'digital age' and you've got folders full of images on your hard-drive. Either way, this is your beginning.
OK, so go find your photos, in their box, or folder, and pick one. Anyone, doesn't matter if it's good or not, or what it's about, just the first one you come across.
Grab a pen and paper, look at your photo and write down the first things that come into your mind when you look at it. If you can remember, the people, places, dates, and of course, your memories and the moment. In Scrapbook terms we call this 'journalling'
And there you are... you've started, and you have two of the main elements of a scrapbook page. A photo and journalling
And now for the fun part, unleashing your creativity! So you have a photo, you have journalling, now for the best part. The art! Have a look around our shop, at the kits already put together, at the patterned paper section, the embellishments and tools, and then visit 'The Mill Pond' our blog see what our designers get up to. There's no right and wrong, no must do, or mustn't do. If you're unsure, take a look at someone elses work and 'copy' it (or 'scraplift' it as we call it just remember to credit the person who's work you copy!) You take your photo, your journalling and some pretty papers and embellishments, and cut and stick to your hearts content.
We all love to get back to our childhood with some glue, and scissors and paper, so why not mix that with creating a keepsake for ourselves and our families in years to come. I couldn't tell you when I first crawled, walked, talked. But I *can* tell you the date my children did all these things, show you a picture of it, and tell you everything I remember and felt about that day! Will you be able to do the same thing in ten years time? 20 years? 40 years?
I bet after you've created your first page you will...... |
